Principles of Historic Preservation
This workshop equips attendees with a basic foundation for understanding historic preservation philosophy, law, and terminology. A classroom session will be followed by a walking tour of Historic Pensacola Village as an introduction to historic preservation issues at the local level.

Understanding the meaning and application of the Secretary's Standards, including sustainability and green rehabilitation, is a critical tool for preservationists. An afternoon classroom session will be followed by a second walking tour of Historic Pensacola Village this time focusing on examples of the proper application of the Secretary's Standards.
Archaeological Considerations in Historic Property Management and Historic Landscapes
Considering archaeological resources during preservation projects is a critical element to any successful plan. This workshop will focus on the importance of preserving archaeological sites, the proper methods of mitigation if they must be disturbed, and techniques for interpreting these sites to the public. A morning classroom session will be followed by a tour of interpreted archaeological sthe Florida Public Archaeology Network, and historic St. Michael's cemetery.
Materials and Techniques of Restoration and Rehabilitation
This workshop will provide an overview of the various construction materials used in this region and the techniques for their preservation, repair, and replacement. A morning classroom session will be followed by a walking tour of Historic Pensacola Village illustrating proper repair and replacement techniques.
Historic Property Management and Maintenance
The afternoon session of this workshop will provide an examination of how a successfully-run historic site operates, using Historic Pensacola Village as the example. Topics will include methodologies for organizing and performing daily, monthly and annual maintenance activities for historic fabric and developing preventive maintenance.
